Sing Street

The film Sing Street (released in April of this year) is probably on my top 10 list of favorite movies. Not only does it totally overthrow you with 80’s nostalgia, but the music makes the whole movie come to life. Set in Dublin, it tells the basic coming of age story of a freshman boy; transferring schools, trying to make friends at a not-very-friendly school, and being attracted to the girl who is totally out of his league. However, to get the girl of his dreams, he makes a ploy with his pals to make a rock band. I’ll try not to give the plot away, but I hope this is enough to intrigue anyone reading. The music is stellar (I immediately added the tracks on my Spotify playlist) and pays tributes to bands like Duran Duran and Motorhead. It's mostly rock and roll, but includes a few slow songs (one of which is acoustic). It’s a cute, feel good movie, and has a super fun soundtrack of original content. The 80's style is simply a plus!!
